Throughout his time of wearing the Philadelphia 76ers uniform, Tobias Harris has been receiving massive trade clamors and murmurs. As such, the noise buzzing around his name won’t distract him from performing the best ways he can.

Harris told Ky Carlin of USA Today that he isn’t bothered by the talks and chatter delivered by fans and several league circles, noting that he’ll be fine whenever he goes.

“It don’t frustrate me,” Harris said. “I understand the business. I understand the game and I’m a person that lets things happen the way they’re gonna happen. I know I’ll be fine either way, and all I do is go out and just handle what I can control every day. All the other stuff is out of my control.”

In the financial standpoint, Harris is truly locked in on a wealthy contract that benefits his career and personal endeavors. Back in 2019, he inked a big-time five-year, $180 million deal with the Sixers, securing himself a big pay day.

But for most of the Philly fans, this transaction was a highway robbery. Given his averages of 18.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 48.4 percent shooting for five seasons donning the 76ers gears, many have developed a notion that the veteran isn’t living up to the value of his contract.

He has been in a major range of third to fourth option player for the Sixers with Joel Embiid and James Harden leading the pack. Amid the chirpings, he is generally enjoying the time he has of helping the franchise to reach competitive levels.

“What upper management and whoever wants to do, I’m truly grateful and thankful for what I do and the impact I’m able to have on this group and the guys on this team,” Harris added. “I enjoy being here and everything else outside of that, I don’t let it affect me. I just go and hoop and worry about how I can control everything I can control in this situation.”

With his massive contract about to conclude and expire following next season, the talks could only get even louder. For Harris, he can only shrug off the things he cannot control on his part.

“The trade rumors, I’ve been in trade rumors, to be honest, ever since I’ve came into the NBA, so it’s nothing new to me and it’s something that, honestly, doesn’t affect me because I know I’ll be fine wherever I am,” Harris added. “I don’t really stress on that.”
