The San Antonio Spurs have decided to release Cam Payne, a seasoned guard who had just been acquired via trade from the Phoenix Suns. This move provides Payne with the opportunity to join a competitive team where he might assume a more significant role.
In exchange for Payne in the trade that took place in July, the Spurs received a future second-round draft pick and $5.6 million. The Spurs are currently focusing on developing a group of young guards as the core of their team.
It’s worth noting that Payne had a standout performance during Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals, scoring an impressive 31 points against the Denver Nuggets.
