RUMORS: Suns fear Kevin Durant out for rest of 22-23 regular season due to ankle sprain

A one, single accident involving Kevin Durant appears set to wipe out the Phoenix Suns’ composure and preparation for the impending great postseason war.

According to Greg Moore of the Arizona Republic, there is an ongoing concern around the Suns organization that Durant has sustained a grade 2 ankle sprain upon accidentally slipping in his pregame workout of the team’s Wednesday matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

A grade 2 sprain ultimately requires four to six weeks of recovery. By looking at the calendar, this could possibly note that Durant will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 regular season, as noted by Moore.

The Suns are set to wrap up their 2022-23 regular season on Apr. 9, as they host the L.A. Clippers.

Following the Suns’ 132-101 win over Thunder, Arizona Republic’s Duane Rankin relayed that Durant was seen wearing a walking boot on his left foot which sustained the painful sprain. This may signal that the injury is severe and an update is very much anticipated.

Durant still took time to recover his MCL injury upon landing in Phoenix on a blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets. The injury forced the superstar forward to sit out 20 games this year as he only made his Suns debut last week.

For the Suns, a possible shutdown of Durant can’t be more disrupting and disastrous as they are continuing to intensify as a title heavyweight with the future hall of famer. With the victory over OKC, they now have established a four-game win skid and further cements their hold at the West’s fourth spot with a 37-29 record.

Should Durant become inactive for the rest of the regular season, it will definitely be a challenge for Devin Booker and the Suns to maintain their hold on the conference board and set things prepared for the playoffs. As such, only time can tell what will be the two-time Finals MVP’s severity of injury and the length of his absence.
