Despite the absence of LeBron James in his jersey retirement ceremony by the Los Angeles Lakers, Pau Gasol has no hard feelings towards the NBA superstar.
“I didn’t know LeBron wasn’t coming, I didn’t even notice. It was not important to me” Gasol said in an interview with Antoni Daimiel on NBA en Movistar.
At that time, James was still nursing his foot injury and notably had an excused leave from team activities.
While his presence would have given more significance to the Spanish great’s honour, James indeed congratulated Gasol in a video presentation made by the Lakers ahead of the jersey raising.
Gasol served as the 12th player in league history to have his jersey retired by the iconic purple and gold franchise.
