NBA DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy basketball picks for Nov. 17, 2022 include Damian Lillard

Former first overall pick Cade Cunningham will miss his fourth consecutive game due to a shin injury on Thursday, taking one of the more recognizable names in the NBA DFS player pool off the board. His Detroit Pistons are one of just six teams in action, but are there some solid options on his team that could present value for your NBA DFS lineups? Jaden Ivey was the Pistons’ first round selection this year, and he could be a name worth considering.

Ivey has scored 47 total points over his last two starts in tough matchups against Boston and Toronto. Elsewhere, Kyrie Irving will still be out of the lineup when Kevin Durant and the Nets take on Portland, but Edmond Sumner has done well in Irving’s place and has averaged 15 points with two steals over his last four games. Before you make your NBA DFS picks for Thursday, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.

McClure is a DFS professional with over $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.

On Wednesday, he highlighted Mavericks F/C Christian Wood as one of his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Wood came off the bench to score 26 points to go with eight rebounds, three assists a steal and a block to return 45.5 points on DraftKings and 46.1 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to NBA action on Thursday and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Thursday, November 17

One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks is Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard ($10,000 on DraftKings and $9,000 on FanDuel). Since taking a game off against New Orleans to rest a sore right calf, Lillard has come back strong over his last two starts. In games against the Mavericks and Spurs, he scored 51 total points with 23 assists.

Lillard missed most of last season with an abdomen problem and hasn’t played Brooklyn since the 2020-21 season. However, in two games against the Nets that year, he averaged 27 points with nine assists and five rebounds. The Nets have been a bottom-10 Fantasy defense against opposing point guards this season and allow the third-most assists per game to the position in the NBA (9.52).

Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering San Antonio forward Jeremy Sochan ($4,300 on DraftKings and FanDuel). Sochan finished with six points, four rebounds, four assists and two blocks in his last start on Tuesday against Portland but had been even more effective in the three games before that. During that stretch, he averaged 11.7 points with 5.3 rebounds and shot 55.6% from the field.

The Spurs visit the Kings on Thursday, and even though Sacramento ranks highly as a Fantasy defense against opposing power forwards, there is still reason to think Sochan carries high value. On November 9, Evan Mobley finished with 16 points and six rebounds in the Kings’ game against Cleveland, and the Orlando frontcourt of Wendell Carter Jr. and Bol Bol combined for 40 points against Sacramento on November 5. Sochan has done most of his damage at the rim, and in home games this season, the Kings have allowed the eighth-most points in the paint (52.6).
