Team USA faced disappointment in the FIBA World Cup semi-final, falling to Germany with a final score of 111-113, dashing their hopes for a gold medal.
NBA icon and Lakers legend Magic Johnson took to social media to share his disappointment following the loss.
Johnson tweeted, “Just watched the USA Men’s basketball team play Germany in the FIBA World Cup and I was very disappointed we lost 111-113. Now instead of playing for Gold, we will be playing for Bronze.”
Johnson’s sentiments echoed those of many basketball fans who had high hopes for Team USA’s success in the tournament.
While the defeat is undoubtedly a setback for the American team, it’s worth noting that they are assured of finishing no lower than fourth place, a significant improvement from their 2019 FIBA World Cup performance when they finished in seventh place.
Team USA will face neighbours Canada in the bronze medal game.
