More than anybody else, Kristaps Porzingis is the happiest in Latvia’s historic FIBA win on Sunday, Aug. 27, to officially oust France from World Cup’s title contention race.
Porzingis, who supported his national teammates on the sidelines, was on cloud nine as the final buzzer in Indonesia Arena concluded that Latvia emerged as the victors of the thriller against France.
Even without the top production of their main man and the Boston Celtics star center, Latvia managed to pull the upset against the No. 5 FIBA-ranked nation upon riding a groundbreaking 13-point comeback and a 26-12 fourth quarter blast to shock Les Bleus.
This year marks the first time that Latvia managed to participate in the World Cup, and the country is already turning the heads of the majority upon recording a 2-0 card within Group A – automatically locking a spot to the second round alongside Canada.
Porzingis can only observe and support his Latvian squad as he was announced unavailable to play in the World Cup upon suffering from a plantar fasciitis injury in his foot lately this offseason which would sideline him in a four-to-six weeks of recovery.
But now, he is without a doubt having no worries anymore as his nation continues to salivate the highest feat they can ever achieve in their national program history.
