One of the summer’s standout transfers in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague featured four-time NBA All-Star Kemba Walker joining Monaco to bolster the team’s growth.
After reaching the EuroLeague Final Four in only their second season in the competition, Sasa Obradovic’s squad decided to enhance their roster by acquiring the 33-year-old point guard from overseas.
The American playmaker, who has yet to make his debut with AS Monaco in the LNB, discussed his new adventure in an interview with Eurohoops.
“I don’t really have any expectations, to be honest, I’m just here to play basketball,” Walker said. “I’ve been on new teams plenty of times, I don’t look at it any differently. The guys are hoopers, really good hoopers. Really good people, easy to get along with.”
Facing passionate crowds in cities like Belgrade (with Partizan and Crvena Zvezda), Athens (with Olympiacos and Panathinaikos), and Tel Aviv, the former Charlotte Hornets, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Dallas Mavericks player will encounter a unique audience experience.
“It’s something I’m really looking forward to experiencing,” he said. “I’ve heard great things about the different environments, and how wild some of the different places are. That’s what I love about the game, one of the biggest differences between European basketball and the NBA.”
