Newly minted Golden State Warriors player Chris Paul disclosed the instrumental part he played in recruiting his former Phoenix Suns colleague, Dario Saric, to the Warriors roster.
Reflecting on the recruitment process, the 12-time NBA All-Star emphasized Saric’s positive impact both on and off the court.
Recounting his conversation with Warriors’ officials, Paul highlighted his immediate response upon learning of the potential acquisition of Saric.
Drawing parallels with previous experiences, including his involvement in bringing Luc Mbah A Moute to Houston, Paul underscored Saric’s exceptional playing style and his valuable presence in the team’s locker room.
Expressing his delight at the reunion with Saric, Paul emphasized the comfort and familiarity that comes with having a seasoned player and a commendable individual like Saric on the team.
“When Steve [Kerr] and Mike Dunleavy called me and said ‘We got a chance to get Dario [Saric], I called Dario so fast,” Paul smiled. “I called him so fast.
“It kind of reminded me when I went to Houston, I think it was Daryl [Morey] at the time who said ‘We need somebody on the wing,’ I called Luc Mbah A Moute.
“Just guys who not only really good players, but just great guys to have in a locker. Dario, he went to OKC last year, and I’m glad to be back with him because it’s just a comfort level.
“I know he plays the game the right way no matter what. And he’s just a great guy to be around.”
